Circus Camps
Saturday, March 28th, 2009I will be directing the Berkshire Children’s Circus this summer from July 27 through August 15. Warren Bacon has been the director for the past 3 years and before that he was the aerialist coach for 2 years.
Although I cannot begin to come close to Warren’s experience I hope that as a group we can have a lot of fun and still put on a great show.
I already have seen or spoken with some of the circus kids and they are pretty excited about this years edition. I actually ran into Josh Harrington and his dad John at the Bread and Jam ski race at Notchview ( my apologies John for not recognizing you in your race clothes ).
Tammy Keeney has taken over for Dick Hamilton as Camp Administrator and she has a bunch of experience in circus. Note : she will be able to direct the director.
Bob Goode will be back and he promises to bring a louder whistle. As far as other staff, that is still up in the air but I will keep you posted.
I will also be working with Sean Fagan and Circus Theatricks at a slew ( what is a “slew” ? ) of camps around Albany.
Here are those dates :
1] The Sand Lake Arts Center July 6 – 10
2] Hudson Valley Community College July 13 – 17
3] Colonie Youth Center August 24 – September 4
( don’t forget the swim suits )

Berkshire Fools Festival
Friday, March 20th, 2009 March 20th, 2009
The Berkshire Fools Festival Show will be Friday, April 3; 8 PM at St. Joseph’s in Pittsfield, Mass. I will have an address for you soon. Dave Cox and I will be doing 30 -40 minutes. Our show will be part of the festival’s opening gala which includes theatre, art installations, museum exhibits and kids events. I will give a heads up on where to obtain buttons for the Festival.
Also, I will be performing at the Columbia Land Conservancy picnic on May 24th on the Old Chatham Sheepherding Co. grounds. This is fitting because I have been clearing CLC trails behind my house in order to ski. However, I was told not to do any chainsaw or splitting maul demo’s for the show. Oh well.
Last Saturday night in Great Barrington, Mass. I saw Tomas Kubinek’s show and thought he was great. He performs worldwide and I was fortunate enough to catch his show very close to my home. If you enjoy physical, visual comedy and clowning you should check him out at www.kubinek.com
I will have some camp info announcements soon including the Berkshire Children’s Circus Camp in July.
March 19
Thursday, March 19th, 2009Hello,
It looks like Dave and I will do a performance for the Berkshire’s Fools Festival on Friday, April 3. A thank you to Mary Parkman for all her hard work in getting us in.
I will have details in the next few days. Also, I will have new show dates and some circus camp announcements.
I just got back from a backcountry ski on the Klondike Trail in the Adirondacks with my friend and fellow unicyclist Jason Kahn and his longtime friend John who works for the Adirondack Council. Good snow high up and some ice scrambling just to keep it interesting. Maybe a couple of more skis to say goodbye to a great winter. Hope yours was as good.
