Millbrook School Circus Week

I just finished a long week at the Millbrook School teaching circus to high school kids for Sean’s Circus Theatricks. It was a great week and the kids did a presentation on Saturday with the theme of waking up for class tired in the morning. Of course !
I would like to thank the group ( Amelia, Auggie, Bob, Emily, Jalaaney, Nick, Ryan, Sydney and Walter ) and Clara Mulberry for having us back again.
Also, thanks to the kitchen staff for providing us with amazing food everyday. I was stronger at the end of the week, in part because I ate so well.
The weekend of Feb. 27th I went to see the New York High School Wrestling Championships in Albany and ran into my old coach Chuck Foster and his son Chip. Also my old teammate John Gallo, whose son is now a really good wrestler.
Chip introduced me to a Cornell wrestling teammate, Roland, who I find out is a long distance unicyclist. You see how all this connects ?
Anyhow, Roland and his friend Steve came out to play uni-hockey in Pittsfield and had a pretty unique experience. All pun intended. Hopefully we will see those 2 guys again.

Hello,
Just an update to let you know what is happening. Summer jobs have started booking up and Dave cox and I have started writing some new material for the Those Two Guys’ show. We hope to have a classic plumbing skit up for this edition. At least that is where it is starting.
I am also sending in an application to Cirque Du Soleil as they are calling for physical comics.
I will be working with Sean Fagan’s Circus Theatricks in Troy, New York at the New York State Theatre Institute. We will be running a circus camp for kids while they are off for a week from classes. Eric Shovah will be directing and I
will take care of the unicycling and clowning. The theme is “Recyling” and I need to get busy with the ideas now if they are going to have a show next Friday.
Also, Keith Nelson and Stephanie Monseu of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus have been busy getting together all kinds of events with the unicycles, as well as their own numerous projects. One in particular is a unicycle convention on Governors Island in New York City’s harbor. The convention is tentatively set for September 17, 18 and 19 , 2010. I will have more information as it becomes available.
The skiing has been pretty good this year up in Austerlitz and even though there hasn’t been much snow we have maintained our base throughout winter. I have 43 days on snow. The Lake Placid Loppet was this past weekend and I opted not to ski the 50 kilometer because of of a nagging injury. My friends Jason Kahn and Len Collins both did the race and did awesome. The high temperature was 25 degrees, bright and sunny.
I did however get myself into a hockey game on Mirror Lake with some kids from Delaware that were in Placid for a Can-AM tournament. They had never played hockey
on natural ice. My buddy Kurt and I started playing against 2 of the boys and next thing we knew there were 20 of them. The ones that were not playing kept running back to their hotel and grabbing their skates and sticks to join in. Great time.
Next weekend, the 19th, I leave for The Keskinada in Ottawa, Ont. If I am feeling well enough I will attempt the 53 km race up there.
I also hope to see a friend of mine Jean-Guy Beaudry perform in Ottawa. We have met a few times at the Rochester Juggle-In. He has seen me perform but I have not caught his act yet.

Goodbye 2009… Hello 2010 !!!

Hello. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday however you chose to celebrate it.
I performed last night for a good group of young ones in Copake , NY.
I did my Phillipe’ character dancing the Nativity; a premise I had discussed doing before last Christmas and just never got around to. 2009 has been a very tough and emotional year; health, getting older, relationships, you name it. It was a struggle to even get myself to the venue last night.
Without being to sappy, I looked around at all the kids and their parents and realized that it’s o.k. ! If you give to the audience honestly they will give it back; and I hope I did because they certainly did. I have been doing this for 23 years and this was a completely new experience.
To make it all perfect, I came out after the show and there was a pick-up hockey game being played on the town rink. I watched for about 10 minutes and reminisced with a few guys about the Ghosts of Hockey Past. A great way to end the year. I hope it is a sign of better times to come in 2010.
I would like to wish you all peace, and happiness and good health in the New Year and I hope to see you at a show in the near future.

Holiday Shows

Hello.
I will be doing 2 shows over the holidays with the Saturday Night Liv/ Columbia Arts Team.
Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the Copake Town Building and Saturday Jan. 2 in Chatham at Imaguration on Main St.; 11:00 AM. Both shows are geared for kids and families. Hope to see you there and have a healthy and happy New Year !!

Albany Winterfest

Here are some photos from Albany’s Winterfest celebration this past Saturday.
The Chatham Unicycle Club performed for almost 5 hours. I think this was the coldest weather I have ever performed in; about 25 degrees.
I hope it is getting me ready for ski season.

Hello,
I am performing today in Albany with Dave Cox and the Chatham Unicycle Club as part of Albany’s Winterfest Celebration. I should be able to get some photos up in a couple of days.
I will also be doing a couple of Saturday Night Liv Holiday Shows; one on Dec. 30 and one on Jan. 2 I believe. I will get the definite times and places up soon.
Meanwhile, have a very Merry Christmas, Holiday Season and a healthy New Year.

Walkway Over The Hudson

October 3 saw the opening of the new pedestrian bridge between Poughkeepsie and Highland, New York. I performed with Dave Cox and also as part of the Chatham Unicycle Club. What a blast ! We were the last ones off of the bridge; “thrown” off by the New York State Parks Department itself. Ironic because the uni clubs founding father, Bill Debell is a higher-up in said parks dept. Go figure !!!
Next Saturday, Oct 24 I will be performing a couple of pieces with Sean Fagan’s Cirque Noire in Troy. More info to follow.

Show in Hudson. New Article

I have a show in Hudson, New York tonight as part of the Saturday Night Liv Variety Show.
It is 8:00 PM at Christ Church ; 431 Union St.
I will be performing the character ” Phillipe’ ” doing his ode to Autumn.

Dave Cox and I performed last night in Lake George, N.Y. at the French Mountain Playhouse to a packed house. It was a lot of fun and we both hope to be back there again in the future.

Speaking of “Those Two Guys” , we have an interview in the Hudson Valley Magazine.

Hello All,
Dave Cox and I received a fair amount of media attention recently and I will be posting it in the next week or so.
We have a show together in Lake George on August 21st and I have a solo gig on August 22nd in Hudson , NY.
The following 2 weeks I will be working with Sean Fagan at a Circus Theatricks camp
in Colonie , NY.

Those Two Guys PS 21 Show
